Description
Flaky heart-shaped puff pastries filled with sweet cream cheese and juicy strawberries—perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 package store-bought puff pastry (thawed)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Granulated sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy, then gently fold in the diced strawberries.
3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into heart shapes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling on half of the heart cutouts, leaving some space around the edges. Top with another heart cutout and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra seal.
5. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the heart puffs. Sprinkle with granulated sugar for a sweet finish.
6. Place the heart puffs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, make sure the puff pastry stays cold before baking for maximum puff.
These can be served warm or at room temperature.
You can swap strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for a fruity twist.
