Who says your holiday spread can’t be both whimsical and delicious? The Reindeer Cheese Ball is a playful twist on a classic appetizer, guaranteeing smiles all around your festive table.
Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) blocks cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 8 ounce block medium cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cherry tomato, for nose
- 2–3 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix
- Chopped pecans, for coating
- 2 black olives, for eyes
- 2 mini pretzels, for antlers
- Crackers and fresh herbs, for serving (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and fully combined.
2. Next, add the shredded cheese and ranch seasoning. Start with two tablespoons of the ranch seasoning mix and then taste after it’s blended. Add another tablespoon if desired and blend again.
3. Lay the cheese ball mixture on a large sheet of plastic wrap. Use the wrap to mold the cheese into a ball and twist shut.
4. Refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight, until firm.
5. Before serving, place the cheese ball onto a plate with chopped pecans and press the pecans evenly into the surface.
6. Insert two mini pretzels on top for antlers.
7. Make an indent for the eyes and nose, then place two black olives and one cherry tomato in position. Use toothpicks or pretzel sticks to secure them if needed.
8. Arrange crackers and herbs around the cheese ball for serving.
