Description

This Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole is a cheesy, savory dinner loaded with steak and veggies. Make ahead for a comforting, protein-rich meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or a mix), diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (1 package) cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.

2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

3. Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper. Cook while breaking up the meat with a spatula until completely browned, about 7-8 minutes.

4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce to coat the meat mixture and enhance the flavors.

5. Reduce heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese to the skillet, stirring until it melts and evenly coats the mixture.

6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

7. Layer the sliced provolone cheese over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

8. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.

9. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can use shaved steak or thinly sliced sirloin instead of ground beef for a more traditional Philly cheesesteak flavor.

Feel free to add mushrooms or swap out the cheese blend to customize the dish.

This casserole keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days and reheats beautifully for meal prep.
