Description
This dish features smooth, tangy labneh served on a plate, topped with za’atar seasoning and a drizzle of honey for contrast. Crispy toasted pita strips accompany the sauce, creating a combination of creamy, crunchy, and sweet-salty textures.
Ingredients
- 1 cup labneh (thick, strained yogurt cheese)
- 2 Tbsp za’atar
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 2 pitas, cut into strips
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Place the labneh in a shallow serving dish and spread it into an even layer using a spoon, forming a smooth surface.
2. Sprinkle za’atar evenly over the top, then drizzle honey over the seasoning, creating a marbled effect.
3. Preheat the oven or toaster to 375°F (190°C). Meanwhile, cut the pita bread into thin strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
4. Toss the pita strips in a mixing bowl with olive oil until well coated.
5. Spread them evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Bake the pita strips in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and allow to cool slightly.
7. Arrange the toasted pita strips around the labneh on the serving dish. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a sweeter twist, use date syrup instead of honey.
Add a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for extra texture.
Serve with fresh vegetables like cucumber or radish for variety.
