Description

A quick and delightful recipe combining ground beef and chopped cabbage, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (choose lean or fattier for your preference of richness)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth (use low-sodium for more control over saltiness)
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper (fresh black pepper adds a subtle heat)
  • 1 medium cabbage, chopped
  • Cumin or chili flakes, to taste (optional for a spicy kick)
  • Oil for cooking (olive or vegetable oil)

Instructions

1. Drizzle oil into a large skillet and warm over medium-high heat. Once hot, add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.

2. Toss in chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until it turns translucent and soft.

3. Add minced garlic and stir for another minute until fragrant.

4. Mix in tomato paste, allowing it to caramelize slightly for 1–2 minutes.

5. Sprinkle in paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

6. Gently incorporate chopped cabbage into the beef mixture.

7. Pour in beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 10–12 minutes until the cabbage is tender.

8. Check the consistency, adding a splash of water or more broth if it seems too dry.

9. Once everything is tender, give it a final stir, and serve warm.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs for additional flavor.

You can add cooked rice or quinoa for a heartier variation.

This dish stores well and tastes even better the next day—great for leftovers or meal prep.
