Description

Transform your dinner into a comforting feast with this Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole. This dish combines the heartiness of ground beef, the creaminess of mushroom soup, and the satisfying crunch of baked potatoes, all topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off excess grease and set aside.

3. In a medium bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, chopped onion, salt, and pepper.

4. In a 2-quart baking dish, create alternating layers of thinly sliced potatoes, the soup mixture, and the browned ground beef.

5. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake until the potatoes are tender, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

6. Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese over the top and return to the oven. Continue baking until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.

Notes

You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery for a different flavor.

To save time, slice potatoes using a mandoline or food processor.

Add garlic or green bell pepper to the meat mixture for extra flavor.

Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving to help it set.

Great as leftovers – simply reheat in the oven or microwave.
