Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 (8 oz) tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1/4 cup (60g) melted butter
- 1 cup (60g) Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoons (60g) butter
- 1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (480ml) chicken broth
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
2. In a bowl, mix shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, green onions, salt, and pepper.
3. Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles.
4. Add a heaping tablespoon of filling to the wide end of each triangle.
5. Fold and roll dough into a pillow shape, sealing edges tightly.
6. Dip each pillow in melted butter, then coat in breadcrumbs.
7. Place on baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
8. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
9. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
10. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and milk, simmer until thickened.
11. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
12. Serve the baked pillows warm, topped with the Parmesan sauce.
Notes
Use softened cream cheese for a smoother filling mixture.
Make sure to seal the crescent dough edges well to avoid leaks during baking.
Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best flavor.
Let the baked pillows rest for about 5 minutes before serving for best texture.
